Mainly concentrates on offering an easy, reliable solution to the common problem of inefficient garbage disposal faced within institutes, schools, hospitals or any other closed space, which also implies that the main users of our product would be students, patients and school children.

In this system there are three main devices

  • First device is a smart bin that will automatically open to put trash inside it, allow the user to know whether the bin is full or empty, and also send the level of trash to our pc controller program and the notification of its garbage level and when be filled it make alarm and show send feedback of its location.
  • Second device garbage collector robot which starts its process and empty the bin after receiving the radio signal from the pc controller program.
  • Third device is the Receiver device connected to pc through a USB cable which work as wireless communication between the Smart Bin and Collector Robot to the receiver device that allow to control the robot and display data of garbage level in both of them.

The process includes the garbage collector moving through line follower of an arena where each bin has a particular location (x, y) and numeric value, while stopping at a filled bin to collect garbage. This is the main process of the system. The path followed by the garbage collector is marked in black, in order to pick it up easily by the IR sensors. When the garbage container becomes full, a signal is generated and send alarm to the controller application and then the admin will enter the location of that bin and the container robot start moving to this location to empty that bin. it will interrupt its process only if someone suddenly shown toward its front sensors and start alarm until he/she moving and if he/she became so close from the robot it will open its bin where the user can throw the garbage inside it.

In the implementation of the system, we used “Arduino IDE” to program the Arduino microcontrollers. We also used “CorelDRAW” to design robot chassis and “NI LabVIEW” to design our GUI program.  We used Arduino as microcontroller, motor controller ICs, DC geared motors, a radio transmitter, a radio receiver, a RFID, a Servo motor, actuators, Ultrasonic Sensors, and IR sensors as the main hardware components in the system, during implementation of the hardware.
